Even if a person such as Satan exists, he is no more than a special Jiva under the control of God, and has no power to do anything that is opposed to God’s will. However, in my opinion, it is not possible for such a monstrous living entity to exist. No activity can take place that is contrary to the will of Iswara, nor is any living entity independent of the Lord.
What you describe as civilization has no good qualities, because truthfulness and simplicity are really the only good qualities. In modern times, civilization has come to mean keeping one’s depravity concealed within. The word sabhyata literally means fitness to participate in a sabha, or a virtuous assembly. In reality, civilization that is free from sin and deception is only found among Vaishnavas. Non-Vaishavas very much appreciate civilization that is saturated with sin. The civilization that you speak of is not related to the nitya-dharma of the Jihva.
In the beginning was the Veda-Shastra. One part of the Veda-Shastra teaches pious activities directed toward the attainment of material fruits (Karma); one part teaches knowledge directed toward liberation (Jnana), and another part teaches devotion with love and affection for Bhagavan (Bhakti). The Jivas (living enteritis) who are infatuated with Maya (illusion) are found in many different conditions.

Meat can never be obtained without injury to living creatures, and injury to sentient beings is detrimental to the attainment of heavenly bliss; let him therefore shun the use of meat. Having well considered the disgusting origin of flesh and the cruelty of fettering and slaying corporeal beings, let him entirely abstain from eating flesh.”(Manu-samhita 5.48-49)
Before Srimad-Bhagavatam, no scripture had given the information that anyone had bound the Supreme Lord. Sri Kṛṣṇa is that Supreme Lord. There is no limit to His expanse – inner, outer, upper, lower, downward or sideways. How, then, could a rope, which is itself matter and has limit, bind the unlimited Krsna? That rope was sat-cit-ananda, and especially it was made of the vatsalya-prema of Mother Yasoda. Actually it wasn’t an ordinary rope; it was the rope that Mother Yasoda used to tie her hair. Kṛṣṇa was bound simply by that.
