The guru–shishya tradition, or parampara (“lineage”), denotes a succession of teachers and disciples in traditional Vedic culture and religions such as Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism and Buddhism (Tibetan and Zen tradition). It is the tradition of spiritual relationship and mentoring where teachings are transmitted from a guru “teacher” (Sanskrit: गुरु) to a śiṣya “disciple” (Sanskrit: शिष्य). Such knowledge, whether it be Vedic, agamic, architectural, musical or spiritual, is imparted through the developing relationship between the guru and the disciple.
Even if a person such as Satan exists, he is no more than a special Jiva under the control of God, and has no power to do anything that is opposed to God’s will. However, in my opinion, it is not possible for such a monstrous living entity to exist. No activity can take place that is contrary to the will of Iswara, nor is any living entity independent of the Lord.
What you describe as civilization has no good qualities, because truthfulness and simplicity are really the only good qualities. In modern times, civilization has come to mean keeping one’s depravity concealed within. The word sabhyata literally means fitness to participate in a sabha, or a virtuous assembly. In reality, civilization that is free from sin and deception is only found among Vaishnavas. Non-Vaishavas very much appreciate civilization that is saturated with sin. The civilization that you speak of is not related to the nitya-dharma of the Jihva.
There are probably more Plants that can come by the name Tulsi, but only the first two – Laxmi Tulsi and Krishna Tulsi (Ocimum Sanctum) are considered to be holy and have to be used in the worship (puja) of the Gaudiya Vaishnavas (not the Ram Tulsi).
In the beginning was the Veda-Shastra. One part of the Veda-Shastra teaches pious activities directed toward the attainment of material fruits (Karma); one part teaches knowledge directed toward liberation (Jnana), and another part teaches devotion with love and affection for Bhagavan (Bhakti). The Jivas (living enteritis) who are infatuated with Maya (illusion) are found in many different conditions.
In the last 250 years, the extensive forests of Vrindavan have been subjected to urbanization, first by local Rajas (Kings) and in recent decades by apartment developers. The forest cover has been whittled away to only a few remaining spots, and the local wildlife, including peacocks, cows, monkeys and a variety of bird species has been virtually eliminated. A few peacocks are left in the city but monkeys and cows can be seen almost everywhere.
Whosoever worships Lord Shri Hari with Tulsi leaves is freed from all implication of sin. Indeed, he lives untouched by sin, as the lotus leaf, although in the water, is untouched by it. Whosoever offers Lord Shri Hari but a single leaf from the sacred Tulsi tree (Ocimum Sanctum) attains as much merit as one who gives away in charity two hundred grams of gold and eight hundred grams of silver.
